Capsicana is an authentic Latin American food brand, founded by Ben Jackson (Chilli Ben), born out of a love of travel and cooking. Ben has eaten in many true Mexican cantinas and the inspiration behind Capsicana began back in the late 90’s when he was travelling with his Dad in Texas. They would drive around and visit friends in cities such as Austin and San Antonio. Both have large Mexican communities and it was here that Ben first laid eyes on proper Mexican food, which soon became his default cuisine of choice – whether going out for dinner or just grabbing something by the side of the road.
Ben founded Capsicana because he absolutely loves Latin American food – most particularly all the delicious varieties of chillies that are used throughout the region. Ben started in 2009 with £500, ran production from his home kitchen and sold products via a market stall in his home town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire. With a few ups and downs on the way, fast forward to 2017, and Capsicana are now a team of 5 full time people, stocked in Whole Foods Market, Waitrose and with a major supermarket launch coming soon!
